Scrap to Sculpture Contest

An adventure in Creativity & Conscious
In celebration of Earth Day 2010 and in an effort to increase awareness of the importance of recycling, Cameron Village is pleased to announce an opportunity for sculptural creative expression. Prizes will be awarded based on interpretation of "An adventure in Creativity and Conscious" and adherence to the contest parameters.
Entry forms must be submitted by April 2 to receive an assigned "build space" within Cameron Village. Build spaces are limited. Entry forms are available at www.shopcameronvillage.com. For all accepted entries, Cameron Village will provide a $100 creative allowance to be used at the Scrap Exchange in Durham.
Individual high school and college students - and/or groups of students are eligible to enter.
First place = $1,000
Second place = $750
Third place = $500
Artwork
- Please be made from at least 80% recyclable materials
- Please be able to withstand the elements for two weeks
- Please be at least 3 feet wide x 5 feet tall
- Please be family friendly both in content and materials
- Please work within the space assigned and around the elements that can’t be moved, e.g. Benches and waste cans
- Concept must include an actionable plan for dismantle and recycle
- Sculptures must be ready to unveil Thursday, April 22nd (Earth Day) at noon
